Questions
What does 755 mean?
Each digit is read (4) + write (2) + execute (1). 7 = rwx for the owner, 5 = r-x for group and others. It's typical for scripts and folders.
What should SSH keys use?
600 for private keys (only you can read and write) and 644 for public keys. SSH refuses private keys that others can read.
Why avoid 777?
It lets every user on the system change or replace the file, which is a common security hole.
